Sorry for the negative reply in advance but I do wish you the best of luck with this one.

I was hoping to organise a trip to Snowdon for our NI Wilders as a follow up to our very successful, and entertaining trip to Kerry.  But, unfortunately it turned out to be impossible to get from Belfast to Wales by public transport.  I tried and tried and spoke to the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Irish Tourist Board and Welsh Tourist Board and nobody could suggest a way for us to get to Wales from Northern Ireland  :o

I remember about 15 years ago getting a bus from Belfast to Bordeaux (France) and was there in 24hrs but a simple journey from Belfast to Snowdon these days seems impossible.

Our only option was to fly but that was going to make the trip too expensive for most, including myself.

I hope you find a solution... Maybe somebody on here can be a bit more positive than me  :)

Train from Stranraer but it goes north to kilmarnock then change there for the west coast mainline then you get off at penrith or carlisle (whichever suits). I got a train back then from penrith into windermere which is end of the line

Tried that route but there was no direct link from Belfast to Dun laoghaire... I was completely shocked.

Dublin Port is North of the city and a lot easier to get to than Dun laoghaire.  There is bound to be a short port bus service, although you could walk it if you had the time.

For Lake District, that train option sounds easiest, although could be done with many buses as Chris suggests.

could it be possible to get the train or bus or a cobo of both to get to larne then to stranraer dowser then over 2 wales for an oiting mate for us ni wild members.

some of us could a lift from other members that live local or we could meet them at a train station then be picked up and brought to larne.
in terms of cost we could add a few quid say every week for the cost of it.
the ones of us who go
or send there money to a nominated member/s for safe keeping.

find out what it would cost then arrange it for a time where every member thats going can all have there money paid.
arrange foe a time of the year that is cheapest perhaps.

WHAT DO OTHER MEMBERS FEEL ABOUT THIS.

id say its pretty expensive mate.
what with taking trains buses etc.

but there is a train that runs bear the length of britain.
think it starts in london and goes to highlands.

perhaps you get on at some point then stay on it till ot gets as close as it can to the lake district then say take a bus.
i think its the great northern line.

seen something about it on telly a while back.
