First rate cheap MOD gear
« on: September 17, 2010 »

Just thought I'd put up a link to these folks as I use them quite alot and have always been more than happy with everything they supply, also helps that they tend to sell stuff at silly cheap prices.

Can I just put a cautionary note in here?

I too have used this company many times and yes they are very cheap but recently I stopped because they changed their whole delivery policy to Northern Ireland.  I would order stuff and the checkout screen would give you a reaonable postage charge (a few quid) and you'd sit back and wait for the postman.  However they would then send you an email a day or so later saying that it will cost extra to post to Northern Ireland because they use a courier and can they bill you for this (with the extra usually being another £10).  The first couple of times they did this I contacted them to say just send it ordinary Royal mail but then they seemed to have stopped this option.  It's a pity because I did get quite a lot of kit from them but I can't stand companies who stick the arm in just because we're separated by a bit of water so I decided not to buy anything else from them.

I've since found other suppliers who will supply the same things for more reasonable postage charges.  I'm not saying you shouldn't use Britishmilitarysurplus but just be aware that what you think might be cheap doesn't work out that way at the end of the checkout.

Will have to agree with you about the postage it normally comes to around £15 for me in derry, although I tend to only order a big bunch of stuff at a time so it then becomes worthwhile again.
