Super newbie from Larne
« on: March 16, 2010 »

HI Everybody

Im Lee from Larne and all the time growing up i wanted to go camping and do outdoors stuff but I had no money for tents etc and no friends to go with so the idea slipped away like a well oiled sausage on an ice rink.

However in january there finally afther 29 years I spent my first night camping; in the lake district with my bro, and apart from his foghorn like snoring, I loved it.

So I went and bought myself a Vango Banshee 300, a outwell 7cm thick self inflating mat and a snugpack -5 comfort sleeping bag in the vein hopes of using them. However due to still having no friends that want to camp out etc and also a little to do with having no personal transport :-(, I aint used them yet. I could of course go solo camping but havent due to many various reasons; all of them related to fear :-).

So i stumbled across this site and thought id join

Thanks Lee (p.s is the stuff ive bought any good?)

Welcome Lee. We're out and about quite a bit so you shouldn't have long to wait to get your new gear aired. (And I can vouch for the Banshee 300 - it's a great tent)

You're in the same boat as me, want to get out and explore etc, but if I was to wait on my friends, who, even call themselves the Moutain Men! Then i'd be out once a year!

Welcome anyways....

Mike.

welcome lee, snugpak is highly thought of in the sleeping bag world, I have one but I use it more for summer camping which I suppose I could do now.

Hi Lee....Welcome aboard.

Keep an eye out for the guys from Northern Ireland Bushcraft Association. They do some good stuff up around your neck of the woods.

You'll find them on their website and usually tramping around Carnfunnock and oher places.

You could do worse than look them up.

Alan.
