Hey Wolf,

I operate out of this:

with the tarp and suspension system offered on their site...can fault it

Also have a TW Hornet rigged together with the Alpkit tarp which I haven't had out to play with yet

Other big choice is Hennessey, but a bit dearer and I couldnt justify the extra expense

I bought a tenth wonder last year was a small fault with it customer service was exceptional i did buy the extra long and wide one as im quite tall the hammock itself is great and comfy .. tarp wise i use a dd one 3m x 3m which is plenty .. Though if id the choice again i would choose the same hammock with zips both sides

I use the Hennessey explorer deluxe, have done for about 4 years. It's brilliant when there are trees, not so much when you're somewhere like Rathlin or the Mournes and have to use it with hiking poles to make a bivvy. I've only got wet once and that was a proper downpour.

Hi Wolf, sorry for the late reply - as some of the guys already mentioned above I too use the DD Hammocks Travel Hammock - the added bonus is you can clamber in and out of it from either side and if you can't find suitable trees you can use it as a ground nest as the base is waterproof.

I teamed it up with the 3m x 3m tarp although recently I have been considering changing this as it is a bit bulky / heavy compared to others in the market but it works really well and covers a considerable area.

A decent set of walking poles helps with setting it up as a ground nest and a simple A-frame tarp formation - we have some Leki poles in the shop if you want to call in and try them. Sadly we don't have any hammocks :(

Another vote for the DD Travel Hammock (mine's the older model). Can double as a ground bivvy and has a mozzie net for summer midgies.
