Mini trangia
« on: February 01, 2012 »

Was thinking about buying a mini trangia, has anybody used it before?the larger model is too heavy, what with all those unnecessary kettles & pans, simple pot & pan will do for me,I managed to source it for £16.99,with £2.99 p & p.I was impressed with those fancy pants jet-boils,but I still think there're too pricy!

Hi John, yeah i have a mini trangia and its what i used for the mourne way camp last weekend, there is the meths burner that comes with it but ive removed and replaced it with my pocket rocket, it fits nicely inside the unit for transporting about in my rucksac. It boils water quicker than using meths, and youve got the pot and small frypan for stews and steaks etc.

I find its a good job for the solo trips.

The Mini Trangia is blummin awesome. Pan is non-stick and just the right size for a steak, pot is perfect for one. It's pretty light (about 300g without fuel) and its biggest issue is that there's no windshield and if you don't use one (or improvise one) it can be really slow in wind. It's defo slower than gas and sometimes needs a refill mid-cook but if you're not in a hurry who cares.

I mostly use a  Vango can top stove with the Trangia Mini pot/pan these days because they're perfectly sized and light.

Anyone who wants a normal trangia, I can get them out on 'long term loan' with the outdoor centre.. Now they are the old style ones but they do the job..

How does it differ KG?  Just curious, mine is only a couple of years old but I can't recall them being any different in 'the old days'.

I don't think they are that different.. They have been in our stores for years.
I'll take photos of them tomorrow and will post them up.
They haven't been used much so they should be in good condition.
