Hey surginor, i have a Rab bergen jacket that ive also been looking at waterproofing, like Matt il be using the Nikwax , ive spoke to the guys in cotswold about this and they sell it in a two bottle pack for £11, the first cleans the jacket and the second waterprooofs it again, from what i can see the bottles have more than 1 application. Just bung it in the washing machine and go have a beer.

If you have time, before spending money, check the proofing. Give it another rinse cycle in the machine to clear any detergent residue off the fabric, then tumble dry it on medium for 15-20mins (just until it's dry but check it so it doesn't frazzle - a little heat reactivates any DWR)... then sprinkle water lightly over it and see if it beads - particularly around hood, neck, shoulders, front of arms... all the key areas.

If you do need it redone:
Grangers have a good 2 in 1 wash/proof, and as the guys said Nikwax works great (their new TX11 proof is 5x better than the old one even and is winning awards so check the bottle to get this new stuff).

If you don't have a tumble drier, you can usually iron the fabric to  apply heat - use a cool iron through a hankerchief. There should be plenty of offical guidelines online through the websites of Gore, Nikwax etc. Good luck, £19 is a bargain for gore-tex!
