Really anoyed could not make this.

Did you see anywhere to setup a tent? Any local water source?

There would be plenty of sites to pitch a tent near the caves.  You would need to look about a bit to get a completely level spot, but their would defo be place to set up for the night.

There's no local water at the caves but if your coming up from Annalong Wood you cross two rivers and you can stock up there.  From the Brandy Pad direction you've got the Annalong River itself to obtain water.  From the Caves you would only be 15-20 mins away from a water source.

Looks like an awesome trip Dowser, well done!  Not sure if I'd fit through that exit hole in the cave to be honest... and even if I slimmed down I'm not sure if I'd fancy giving it a go  :o

Judging by the photos I'd say you are getting to grips with LR3 nicely?  Were they shot with the LX5?  There are some real nice shots in there.

LR3 is the ticket.  All were shot on the LX5 but only in jpeg format so quality could be a lot better.  Didn't go for RAW because the RAW format from the LX5 is not recognised yet by any of my software with it being so new  >:(

I really do need to sit down and work the LX5 out properly.  There were a few times I could not get AP and SP to do what I wanted them to do.  Think I must have been doing something I was doing wrong though... there are a lot of buttons/settings to get your head around!

I'm keen to do a trip to the Black Stairs Waterfalls for a few atmospheric, slow shutter, photos soon.

Took the wife up to the cave on Sunday, she hammered on up right to the exit hole before finally turning back. (I went no further than half way up) She wants to come back again and try to get right up through the exit whole...I suggested a rope and pully...got a rock thrown at me for my trouble...

Turns out the exit hole is dead easy to get to from the top...the wife, me and the dog where sitting at the exit while splitting a chocolate bar when two guys (one the gent who works on the 3rd floor of Tisos) popped up through the exit hole, don't think they where too impressed with us 'tourists' sitting in the sun while they struggled up through the cave packs and all :)
