Just woke up one morning and thought she'd climb everest

Most mornings I can barely decide which socks to put on, never mind what mountain to climb!

Kat was reading a bit of her website and said she had to raise £50K to do it!  I wonder if that is just for the Everest trip alone, or if that includes all the prep in the couple of years running up to it?  Would probably be fair to say you would either need to be fairly wealthy, or well sponsored to ever be able to attempt it...

Still, I look forward to the day when someone posts in the NI-Wild Meets section "Everest Trip" :)

It "only" costs £600 to fly to Katmandu, and you only need a few bob a day to live out there.

You can also, get a porter to carry your stuff for £5 a day  8).

Time is the thing you need, a good few weeks.

And I just meant, to go and look at it, not to get to the top of it !

Apart from the fact that you would most likley die, whats stopping the likes of me just going for it? Is it simply policed by "fear"? If 1 in 5 people died on Ben Nevis would warrant the same respect? I can't understand how there is this area of the world that I'm not allowed to set foot on unless I pay crazy sums of money.

I think is about $12000-$15000 just for the permit the other $15000-$20000 is for your guide, sherpa, food and oxygen($900 per cyclinder)
