I'm a bit fan of the 28 Days Later Urban Exploration forum - some of the photos you see are truly awesome (and they accidently threatened Yvette Fieldings life which was excellent).
I came across this thread of them tramping round Belvoir Park Hospital.

It's well worth a gander.

Just had a look at that site j. Cracking find, reminds me of being a kid sneaking about round old abandoned factories scooby do style lol.
Wonder is there many sites of note from northern Ireland

Thats an excellent site, nice post. I'd never even heard of urbex before. I'm kinda intrigued, I'm sure all that sneaking around security guards would get the adrenaline flowing. However I reckon my heart would give out every time I heard the slightest noise... :o

Me too but I think we should consider a run to somewhere not too difficult.

I'd be up for hittin belvior if you guys are going. To be fair whats the worst the security can do? Ask me to leave!
-
I think we should plan a trip. Maybe not to Belvoir first off - somewhere abandoned but less contentious as a starter for 10.
I'd love to do some photography in places like that.
-
why not just hit belviour!
-
I'm game if someone knows where to go.
why not just hit belviour!

Another good place to have a sneaky overnighter....The castle at Downhill - the one beside the Mussenden Temple. Bit further away for a local drive, but would be good to have a night there.
Alan.

Belvoir sounds like a plan and it looks the part. Whereabouts is it anyway, somewhere in east Belfast or am I totally off the mark?
There must be loads of places like this around the country, I can think of 1 just down the road from me that would be good, anyone else got any ideas?
-
Belvoir is just beside hyde bank TA if you know where that is, near that big new tescos.
-
Or beside the young offenders home for the guys from Portadown :D
-
I know these guys really well, infact the guy lying on the slab assists me when I shoot the Cage Wars fights. They are bloody mad, one guy who goes with them is an ex Para!
I have been to a few of them and can give you a few locations to get ya all started. Belvoir is the best, but highly illegal. There is security patrols going round and they have to be dodged.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but due to all the recent interest in urbex and urban exploring in Northern Ireland I have created a new forum specifically for people interested in exploring and photographing their finds.
The forum is available at the following link:
www.NIUrbEx.co.uk
I look forward to seeing some of you there.
Thanks.

P.S.
I have placed a reciprocal link back to this site on NI UrbEx.
Thanks

Great idea guys, I seen that 28dayslater site a while ago and really wanted to give it a shot locally. Just bought a new camera that needs broken in too!!

There were two sections to belvoir park hospital
one was for the insane the other was for the fever hospital otherwise know as an isolation block
either way it would be one freaky place
not for the faint hearted

Just saw this today; hopefully there won't be the bad attitudes from 28DL on the new NI forum ;D

We're trying our best to keep the site as friendly as possible, while we do try to maintain a certain level of secrecy regarding sites (in an effort to keep them off the radar of vandals and thieves) we are always more than happy to take folks out who have a genuine interest in exploring.
Yesterday I personally took 2 urbex virgins out for their first explore (one of them is a regular NI-Wild member) and by all reports they really enjoyed themselves and are keen to take part in further explores.

If anyone else is interested in breaking their urbex cherry, we are going to be holding a second "NI Urbex official get together" in the coming month or two. The get together will include a permission explore to a couple of derelict buildings, a tour around an aircraft hanger and the chance to visit some WW2 relics such as bunkers and pill boxes. It's a great opportunity for anyone interested in exploring and/or photography to get started on the Urbex ladder or even for a seasoned explorer to get some nice shots in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a permission explore.
Further information and sign up details can be found on the NI Urbex forum @ www.NIUrbex.co.uk
Thanks for reading
