Post by: 666_pack on December 16, 2009

I've bought two - anything to keep that waste of oxygen Simon Cowell off the airwaves.

Facebook group:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/RAGE-AGAINST-THE-MACHINE-FOR-CHRISTMAS-NO1/197877130755?ref=ts

It's only 65p here (well worth the money - it's an awesome track):
http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download-Track/4-/6773090/Killing-In-The-Name/Product.html?aid=6771851

You can track its progress here:
http://www.livehits.co.uk

At the mo it's number 1 but the X-Factor single gets released on CD today which will likely boost its sales :-[

honestly, its an affront to anyone who enjoys music!!!

apparently yer man sting (great artist that he is by the way) said he didnt approve of these one shot wonders when there are plenty of people slogging their guts out every night round clubs and pubs who have genuine talent and are working for recognition.

its a joke to see some flash in the pan getting to no1 at christmas and `killing in the name of` is a f*cking great track anyway.

but probably the greatest good to come out of this farce is that cliff richard hasnt got a look in! the c*nt!!! ;D

I'm in a real dilemma.  I really don't want another X-Factor number one, but the lyrics of Killing in the Name could use some... refining.

As usual I've gotta disagree with ya Pablo (and Sting), most of the ones that do well in X-Factor are the same singers that are slogging their guts out week in week out, and I think they genuinely do have talent.  Problem is that it's designed to appeal to a really wide audience so it loses all character.  Rage against the machine has character.

My biggest issue with the X-Factor is that it's just singers. The rest of the band apparently doesn't matter any more.  I Still watch it though - well I watch the funny auditions and the last few live shows.

Would absolutely love for RATM to be number 1, instead of some glossed up industry created talentless sack of .....  spuds!

Being a realist I don't quite see RATM pulling it off, not with all the media coverage that loser, whatever he is called, has been given.

If you see the video of X-factor vs RATM you'll see the ads coming up during it are to buy his track, how can anyone fight that sheeit?! (well they were earlier on today)
youtube vid I'm talking bout -->

not that it even matters that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE may make number one, seeing as SIMON COWELL owns RAGE's entire BACK CATALOGUE.

From the more info box, pretty ironic if its true

I think its Sony records . .who own the RATM back catalogue . they also own simon cowells record label

So its win win for Sony .. but still a slap up the face for reality tv

Just because the message in simple doesn't mean it's not a good message. Plus sometimes it's more about the music than the words.

What a load of pish! is that really the lyrics to a song??? ???
Title: Re: Rage against Christmas
Post by: Paul on December 19, 2009
Well I see no message in those lyrics just a continual repeating of the same line. I don't think I've ever heard of them before and judging by those lyrics I'm glad I haven't.

Its not about the song nor its lyrics .. its about breaking the  Reality TV monopoly of the Christmas number One

yeah, but if the lyrics weren't so explicit I'd have bought it.

I had to laugh when I read this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8418158.stm
BBC 5-live DJs had to apologise because Rage Against the Machine swore on live radio when they were singing Killing in the Name.

With those lyrics - what did they expect?

Here's one, vote people go outside and stop listing or watching tv over Christmas. How's that for an idea to break the Christmas monopoly of tv, let's not watch it!!!
