Thanks to all the members for the warm welcomes. Does anyone use a GPS device. Any comments welcome. I have an iphone but the battery drains very quickly.

i was lookin at them on Ebay thinkin bout gettin me 1 are they any good  ???

I have "Maps" that comes with the phone and two I downloaded - MotionX and iMapMyHike. I suspect it is the nature of the iphone that it is power hungry. The applications work very well especially motionX although sometimes you can lose the O2 signal.

I have a Garmin eTrex HCX. Wouldn't leave the house without it! It's epic.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx which has more features than i'll ever use

It takes blue charts ( marine) and its waterproof which is handy for the yakking
