Title: Primus Eta Express

Has anyone used this stove? I have a Jetboil but it's not really any use for cooking, only for boiling water. The Eta seems a better all-rounder. Specifically I'm wondering if you an use it with any pots/pans or just the ones that come with it.

Post by: chris on October 21, 2009: lol jonno did you read the review befor you posted it?! theres a whole subsection where he uses a titan kettle to test ability in coping with other pots so i think we can safely assume that you can indeed use other pots etc! they would need to be of a certain diameter to find inside the windshield but you can remove it if you want.

It's the light and compact nature of the Eta that interests me - I'm guessing the Jetboil doesn't pack snugly into the pot. Also, the Jetboil has a flame that is very concentrated to the center - I'd imagine the pot would be roasting in the middle and cooler round the outside although I suppose that may be an issue with other performance gas cookers too.

The only problem i saw of it was that you have to keep the stove really low if you don't want to burn whatever you're cooking, which if anything really isn't a problem.

Good bit of kit!

I hear that alot these days - meths is too slow and ultra lite gas is too hot and focused in the middle of the pot and tends to burn.

Post by: ulsterwalker on October 21, 2009: It was more a lack of familiarity i think that led to the burnage. Its far quicker/efficient than enything we'd used so we just wern't used to it.

Ahh, so what you're telling me is I should definitely buy one. Any chance of you telling the wife that you also see it as being essential :P
