Title: Making a Pot Stand
Post by: RedLeader on October 16, 2009
So I'm looking at making a meths stove and I thought - well I already have a Trangia burner, why not just fashion a pot stand of some sort and bring the burner I already have. Any bright ideas?

If you can find one ,they seem to be like hens teeth now, what about a wire coat hanger? bend it into a trapazoid shape (I think thats the name, like a cube only larger at the bottom for stability) then slap the burner in the middle pot on the top and hey preto! You could also fold foil round the sides for a built in windshield, make the whole kiboodle smaller than your pot and you can slap it in there!

Another idea I had was one of those big coffee pot things, find one with a smaller diameter than your pot and cut to size, would prob need some holes punched in for air flow and if your pot is tall enough again you can fit in there for protection.

And lastly tent pegs, hook three of them over the edge of the burner or push them into the ground and set your pot on that. then you cut out the weight of a pot stand all together. I find this the hardest system to rig a windshield up for tho.

I thought of the coat hanger solution but it seemed hard to transport since repeated bending would cause it to break.

it should be fine if you look after it, stick it inside your pot and it'll be fine. Its amazing how well you can look after something in a rucksack if you try!

i'd  go  for tent pegs as you'll always have them and it no extra weight.
