There has been a bit of interest shown with regard to a winter overnight camp out with minimal kit. Some people may be interested, but are anxious about doing a minimal kit night out. Myself and Paul have spoken about this at some length and we have decided that we will run a short build up course for anyone who is interested. It will be 3 x one day courses.
1. Fire
2. Shelter
3. Water and food.
If you are interested, let us know. It's all free by the way.

-
at least my romper suit isnt PINK mate lol ;D :D
id like someone to sort me out with a decent firedrill set. what kinda wood am i looking at? is oak flooring any use?
-
Willow, hazel, ivy, cedar, alder, sycamore are all good bow drill woods. ,
-
do they have to be bone dry ? like dead and seasoned for at least nine months?
also, can you use the same wood as drill and hearth?
and when do you pour the petrol on?
-
You can use the same wood for hearth and spindle, but most find that combinations of woods work better. The wood DOES need to be bone dry and kept warm (inside your pocket)especially the spindle. The petrol goes on at the end when you have run out of breath and can't blow the resulting ember to flame.

ah, cheers redbeard.
i really must get round to giving that a go.
maybe if i go to the meet you can give a demo?
-
There's a good chance it'll be on the cards.
