Title: Review - {Pocket Rocket}
Post by: chris on October 02, 2009
Msr Pocket Rocket.

In my opinion the best little flame thrower you can get. Very lightweight and easy to use simply screw to the top of your gas canister an walla, the whole unit is relativley stable although the smaller the canister you use the lower the stability. Controls are very easy to operate even with gloves on and give a wide range of temps from raging flame for epic boils down to the tiniest of flames for gentle simmers and everything in between.
It does come with a little clip on windshield, but all that really does is stop it from blowing out in strong winds. a wind shiled does increase boil times dramitically and will prolong the life of your canister.
Combine the pocket rocket with the titan kettle and a small gas canister and you have a super lightcook set that even the likes of gordon ramsey would be proud to cook with! with plenty of space inside for a firesteel, matches lighter, teabags etc.
Boil times are around 3.5mins for a half litre.
Complimentary items would be the titan kettle and a gas canister stand just to give you piece of mind when using tiny carts. As well as this a pot cosy is very handy.

I have a Vango clone that cost £10 and it's great. Can't see much difference between the two.

I hope this isnt going to turn into another Canon/Nikon debate :P ;D

The Vango clone is really impressive looking.  Very little difference between the two from what I can see, but I haven't used either.  The only stove of that type I've used is the Primus Express Stove which was great, but I'm on the JetBoil Flash at the moment.

The Canon I mean Vango is a nice looking stove but I personally belive its not got a better place in the marketplace as the MRS :)
