Title: Most Recommended Gear - Please all add
Post by: admin on October 02, 2009
In an attempt to try and cover the upcoming years hosting (this isn't a charity you know  ::)) I'd like to try and link to an Amazon aShop. The way that it works is you have a micro shop with a list of specific items that you can link to and when something sells you get a small percentage. I can't see it making much but it's worth a try and might save me cutting the wife and kids pocket money next year to cover bandwidth.

This is what we'd like you to do:
Amazon actually has quite a list of useful gear at reasonable prices as well as being reliable and fast so it's actually a good place to buy gear anyway.

Please also click the adverts on the site when they seem interesting - this helps a great deal!

On the off chance that there's more income than required then the rest will go on advertising or meets (and not on beer for me, even though I totally deserve it)

Thanks for your help and please all consider posting at least one review - it's the only way we have at the moment to keep things going!

A few of us have similar kit, I am thinking along the lines of Thermarest's and jet boils and some members have more specialist gear for instance rock climbing kit.

If we could generate a list of kit, which a few of us own we could note down a few pointers in a pm, sent it to me and I will collate the information into a review. A few items I had initially thought of:

•   Salamon Speed Cross shoes
•   Thermarest Neo Air Regular
•   Alpkit Hunka XL
•   Mini Trangia
•   Titan Kettle
•   Jet Boil original
•   Rab vapour rise jacket
•   Terra Nova Laser Comp
•   Wild Country Zephyros tent

How much does it take to run a forum then?

Other non-outdoor forums I would occasionally visit have a donate tab linked to PayPal to assist with the running costs. Though I appreciate that this forum is free to use I have gained a fair few good friends through meets, I, for one would not be averse to sending a few pennies to assist with the running costs. I am not suggesting charging for membership merely donating when you can.

Did you ever get the aShop up and running? I genuinely think I'd use it, as a new member building a kit. I think I'd feel comfortable if the product is on the NI Wild aShop that it should be reasonably decent.
