im from ballycastle, iv been doing a bit of rock climbing now for a year or so, (mainly indoors), and was just checkin to see if any1 fancies helpin me get some climbing organised- im only a novice and basically just tryin to get out with some experienced people-
-
Welcome.
I fancy trying climbing but there's no way I'd do it outdoors yet. I was in the caves at Cave Hill a few weeks back and was a bit bloody wobbly coming back down again even from no height :D Maybe some experience on a wall might get my confidence up.

hello jonno,
aye i don't mind doing a bit of climbin up at the wall, i would normally go to the ozone, but im also lookin to get some experience on the big outdoors with like minded people-fairhead on my doorstep...makes me ragin i cant climb it. but yea indoors is a good place to build the oul confidence up!

Hi check out Mountaineering Ireland. they are the governing body for climbing in Ireland (they also provide the NIBA's insurance)

They have lists of all the affiliated clubs and loads of other stuff. If you are into climbing, it's worth checking them out.

What cave did you get up to jonno, ive been to the 1st cave like most people, the 2nd one is hard to reach ?
-
Only the first. I suck with heights ::)
-
Im a paniter so heights are NP lucky for me. Just dont look down jonno ;)

The bailing is half the craic - especailly if you were in the tumble drier at the white rocks this morning!!
Ads for free sometimes has one or two in it and so does that big yellow ad's paper. Is it just a general purpose one you want ???
-
haha- wer you in the sea today?! i went down to have a nosy, plannin to do a bit of coasteerin around dunsevrick, and after looking at conditions, had a strange sense of deja vu after watchin the movie perfect storm lol.
iv done a few whitewater runs, and hav decided that- its not really my thing, i was thinkn more of paddling and campin out, i guess thats just touring, but i dont lik the idea of havin to cart about a big huge touring kayak..i reckon i prob would buy a G.P kayak, so iv the option to do river runs again...
-
Get someone else to cart the boat about for you!!
Yeah was great craic today. Questioned my sanity a few times and there was the "oh shite its a bit deep here" a few times when i came out. Part of the fun
Ever go coastering about the goat path. My cousin does it all the time. It can be raceey enough when the tide is coming in too...

if only it where that easy...
iv never even heard of the goats path- wheres that?
-
Head to rear of ferry terminal follow path around until there is no bridge, you can climb down to go around onto next ledge then the swimming begins - don't do it without bouyancy aids and someone who as been there before.

Rathlin Island is an island off the coast of County Antrim in Northern Ireland, and is the Extreme points of the United Kingdom of the region. from the mainland, Rathlin is the only inhabited offshore island in Northern Ireland, and is the most northerly inhabited island off the Ireland coast.
It is a very highly-regarded rock-climbing location, and is believed to be the biggest expanse of climbable rock in either Ireland or Britain.
Headland of Fair Head rises 196m above the sea. Wild goats can be seen roaming among the rocks beneath the clifftops, where a walkway called The Grey Man's Path winds around the rugged coastline.
