Title: Scotland
Post by: sandman1 on October 21, 2015
I've been over to Scotland a few times and will be again in 2016. Ryanair fares are cheap but if you carry a tent or walking poles then you pay a multiple, and you can't carry gas etc. Then bus / train is expensive. Bringing a car over is only a good option if there are a few travelling. Just throwing it out there in case anybody was interested in sharing trip over by car / ferry next year. I don't have any dates in mind but an flexible and would be happier that we went our own way over there.

Hi Sandman1. I'd be interested in a trip to Scotland in 2016 so put my name down. Have you thought of flying then possibly renting a car? Aso, where would you usually go in Scotland?
All the best
Stephen

I've always had a hankering to go to Galloway Forest Park. It's one of the few properly rated dark sky parks in Europe and it's very handy for the Cairnryan Ferry. If you were over there camping on a clear night I think it would be epic for stargazing. At the mo it's £56 as a foot paseenger Belfast - Cairnryan, not sure what that rises to in the summer.

Maybe you get a midge-season discount  :-\
