Hi everyone,
Southern Regional College Banbridge Campus are offering an evening course in the basics of land navigation, involving map reading, using a compass, estimating distance and time, route planning and using gps for £30

LAND NAVIGATION SKILLS
DURATION: 1 evening per week
Learn how to read and use a topographical map, find your pace count, and use a compass to navigate through the woods and mountains.
The course will cover the following:
• Basic route planning
• Using GPS
• Introduction to orienteering
• Map skills
• Compass skills
The course will enable you to become familiar with the main aspects of map reading and navigation. You will learn how to read maps and apply these readings using practical navigation skills. You will use compasses, route maps and grid references to undertake orientation exercises.
