Title: Weekend Everest
Post by: Rich.H on November 20, 2014
Had a fun read this morning about Kilian Jornet Burgada, for those who do not know the name he is an ultra runner who has a habit of not breaking but smashing records for breakfast. He has been doing his Summits of My Life project the past year or so, it involves him getting up and down mountains is stupidly fast times with little to no gear. To give some idea of the times involved in 2010 Kilimanjaro base to summit to base was completed in 7 hours 14 minutes.

So next year he is doing Everest with no oxygen and probably less kit than most folks would take in a day pack. Oh he is also not doing none of that base camp lark and instead starting at the last village so adding 14,00ft extra. Here is the full article http://www.outsideonline.com/fitness/running/trail-running/FKT-Up-Kilian-Jornet.html (http://www.outsideonline.com/fitness/running/trail-running/FKT-Up-Kilian-Jornet.html) Also here is a quick trailer for the summits project to get a feel for what happens when you ditch the boots.

I guess the rain and wind of mountains low enough to have grass just no longer became an excuse for us to stay by a warm fire. 8)
