Hay all. I was out yesterday training and it was hotter than hot so was filling up from as high up as possible and adding a water puri tab. So I knew there was a water source on the side of Meelmore (about half way up from the bernagh saddle, left side of wall) and was trying to get as close to the source as possible when I noticed a pipe sticking out of the ground with a good flow of water. It was a white pipe and easily missed, as it was so dry I was conscious of taking from as high as I could. The question I have is if this is similar to the commedagh water pipe and drinkable without adding a puri tab. I wasn't sure so added one to make sure. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

I didn't know about that one! did you drink it? let us know if you survived :)

I did drink it, feel fine, no cramps or dashes to the loo!! But I didn't risk it without a tab added. It was flipping humid yesterday and the sweat I lost wasn't human so I was refilling more than usual.

I've never heard of this one, do you have a grid ref?

I would take guess at half way up to the summit left hand side of wall from bernagh saddle. As I wasn't expecting it I couldn't give a totally accurate ref. next time I'm up I'll stop at it and take a proper look at it and where exactly I am.

New one on me as well. Did the pipe look new(ish)?
I wonder if it was placed by the folks that were working on the water tower a while past. Can't see them dragging their own water up to mix the cement (wonder what they did on Donard).

Never thought of that actually, it looked newish because there wasn't a lot go the green moss stuff around it like the commedagh one. The pipe was a plastic white one, so if you look for it again it does stand out a bit. If it is then it's very handy spot to fill up from.
