This internationally recognised festival offers walkers, of all levels of fitness, stunning routes in the Mourne Mountains and surrounding countryside. These routes vary between 10k and 40k at both high and low level. The festival takes place over 3 days and this year is based in Newcastle, Co. Down, the 'gateway to the Mournes'.

There are a variety of self-guided lowland walks with all routes fully waymarked as well as more strenuous guided mountain walks. A detailed itinerary of walks for 2014 can be found in the leaflet available to download below.

The festival not only offers excellent walking but also entertainment. The bars will be packed full of walkers in the evening and there is always a great buzz and plenty of traditional music playing into the wee hours. The highlight of the weekend is the 'Blister Ball' on Saturday Night (28th) a casual event with a hot buffet supper and music by a local band. Entry is £15 to this event.

The Festival Centre is located at the Mourne Gold Club, Links Road, Newcastle.

Pre-booking for the Mourne International Walking Festival is advisable and also means you can enjoy the walks at a reduced rate. Download the leaflet below for prices and details of how to book.
