Guys,
I'm heading to the mournes this weekend with the mates and I'm wondering where is safe to park?
Will be starting in donard forest, so close to there.
Was thinking doanrd car park, but I'm not sure as to how safe it will be for a few days. Heard a few say to park close to the police station along the kilkeel road.
Anyone any thoughts on this????

If you park close to the Police Station then you can access the mountain handily via the old granite trail, its steep but i like it :) in Donard Park its maybe best to be in sight of the CCTV cameras (if they even work!). The main street down by the needle is probably as safe as anywhere too.

Cheers Liam,
I completely forgot all about that last link.
Thinking close to the police station may be the best idea.

I've never had (or heard) of a problem in Donard car park but I suppose parking closer to the Rozzers can't do any harm!
Where are you heading in the Mournes, anywhere fun?

Mate has managed to get us a parking space in the ymca, so we are good for parking now.
Camping in donard forest friday night, then maybe moving on from there. not sure where though. First time camping with the pup :-\
Been checking the met office for the weekend everyday lol

Yea, seems to be that way, but.... still a few days to go and the weather can change. Hopefully for the better!!!! I don't fancy sleeping with a damp dog ???
