Title: Wild camping in the Mournes
Post by: neil on August 06, 2013
Hi all

Can anyone give me some advice on a location in the Mournes where I can bring my wife and children wild camping. Also, the location would need to  be close to public toilets.

to be honest, close to public toilets is not what most would consider wild camping. google meelmore lodge, see if it fits your bill. generally the point of wild camping is to get away from all that. i think there are toilets at the campsite at the bloody bridge too, never been there though.

I know where you are coming from, but my wife and kids are not into pissing in the wild. I have been to meelmore and bloodybridge however, it can be quite expensive for all of us as bloodybridge charges £6 per person.

best or closest option I can come up with is benone beach then, you have the facilities at the benone complex as close or as far away as you want them to be (depending how far up the beach you camp). there's facilities at spelga dam but nowhere I've heard of anyone wild camping around there
