Title: Family Summer Camp - Bloody Bridge - Sat/Sun 29/30th June
Post by: RedLeader on June 17, 2013

Saturday 29th June, Bloody Bridge Campsite.

We're going to have a gentle nights car camping at Franks. Plan is for an evening around the garden burner plus maybe a BBQ or suchlike. It will be suitable for all ages and since it's car camping everyone can bring their comfy gear.

We could have a bit of a dander either day and maybe a trip up to the pools on the Bloody Bridge river for some fun in the water if the weather is nice or some fishing down at the sea.

We've camped here a few times before and it's always been a good night, as ever, everyone welcome! If you can make it up but can't stay over, no problems. If you want to come up later and camp that is fine too.

More details to follow, reply if you're coming and feel free to make suggestions.

Please remember to review the safety and responsibility notice.

Totally relaxed, whoever is down first speak to Frank and let him know the numbers we'll be bringing. We'll try and get the field on the right, the first one you pass on the way up the lane, it's usually quietest. I'll be aiming to be there around lunch or after I'd have thought.

This is the website but I think it is fairly inaccurate http://www.bloodybridge.com/html/campsites.html. Basically drive out of Newcastle on the coast road to Annalong until you get to the Bloody Bridge Car Park on the left handside. The campsite is up the farmers lane beside the start of the Bloody Bridge trail on the other side of the road. Just open the gate and drive up. Bloody Bridge Campsite is first on the right I think. Depending on where you're coming from you could travel down in convoy with us if you like. Just PM me.

thanks for that Red.

I shall be coming from Antrim, but will likely stop off at home just outside Castlewellan first.
Will pm if I need to hook up.

Another great night was had, good to do a bit of glamping again and just throw stuff into the car until nothing else fits  :) even brought the bike. I had to fade a bit early myself, went to tuck the little one in at 1am and promptly nodded off myself >:( Twas a lovely dry evening, midges weren't too bad and a little spray kept them at bay, its hard to tell whether they got me as i'm already covered in bites from the previous evening.

Great stuff guys, it's definitely nice once in a while to be able to take all your gear without having to worry about weight or bulk. Even better that the kids can bring all their toys and have a nice day playing together in the outdoors.
The weather was brilliant, we had a nice hours (unsuccessful) fishing in glorious sunshine down at the shore and the weather was lovely right up until the next morning. It was just a shame about the midges, they were out in full force!
