Ok so I've a wee birthday looming and am expecting a few coins in the card tricks and I'm thinking of a half decent lightweight tarp mostly to be used for a bit of sitting shelter in the woods but eventually for a bit of bivvying once I find out more about the art of the bivvy so some views or recommendations would be great. Thanks Glenn. :)

I have the Alpkit Rig7 and can wholeheartedly recommend it

I have 2 tarps, a DD and British Military, they're both good. The DD is nice and light but thin The military one is excellent, it has the seams taped with fabric (so it can be used as a stretcher I think) but it's much sturdier and I'd say much less likely to rip plus it has more pitching points but is heavier. Stay away from builders type tarps or any that aren't fabric. They just stretch and rip plus are noisy as hell.
