Title: Binnian summit camp Friday or annalong wood if weather cack.
Post by: clairebear on March 19, 2013
I have been itching to get out in my new tent and yet out my new travel telescope for weeks now.   I always seemed to have stuff on any of the nights that have been coming up on the forum and before the multi summit camp next month I wanted to have a dry run.

The weather dosent really bother me but if it really is un bearable I know it's a short drop down to the shelter of the wood.

I got a travel telescope for my birthday and as I live in the city have not been able to get a really good go on it with my book beside me for reference.  I know this maybe sounds boring but I love just gazing up at stars.

The weather so far is showers for Friday but clearing to hopefully have some gazing.  The sat am is not wet but I know that's subject to change.

Cash my beagle has never camped so I'm hoping he appreciates the sleeping bag I'm carrying up for him too.

Plan is to finish work at 12, get gear, get dog, feed myself a rather large lunch and park at the secure car park at carricklittle little.   Straight forward walk up the wall to binnian and pitch at summit.  If I'm making good time I might extend this a little.

Last time I slept out (in my last job) I never enjoyed it.  Always bivvied so a tent is a luxury!

Any little tips are appreciated about pitching up there etc

I have practiced a couple of times in the garden with the tent.

If anyone wants to join me also let me know

Would loved to have joined you as I was intending to camp somewhere in the Mournes this weekend. Unfortunately I tore the ligaments in my left foot a few days ago so having to lay up for a while.

Can't even make the ozone tonight  >:(

Aw that's a nasty injury there, it'll keep you out for a while.

Any foot injuries are nightmares especially ligament damage.

Which ligaments?

Look into cissus quadrangularis.
I had rotator cuff problems - I took a few months of cissus and did plenty of shoulder rehab work (diesel crew videos on youtube are great)

Now I have no rotator cuff issues

Inversion sprain (grade II). Not to sure of names but the big ones at the bottom of the Fibula.
F**king painful! Near passed out when it happened although no surprise really. Name an accident/injury that can happen to your feet and its happened to mine  :'(

Enough of the violins........make sure you have a good one at the weekend  ;D

Hi Claire
You might want to look at the weather forecast for friday. Theres going to be strong winds and lots of rain/snow.

It could be a tough night in the mountaiuns.
