I don't know much about this device but a quick Google suggests that the price is quite good.
Anyone know if you can load Mapyx maps onto a Garmin device? (Not the routes/waypoints etc, I know that is possible, I mean the actual graphical maps).

I don't think so, I checked when I got mine and they don't seem to move across.

I was but if they wont take a Mapyx map then I figure my current GPS is probably just as good.

I have no idea guys. Have a look on garmins website they have a great help section.

I'm only seeing this now but they do take the talkytoaster maps. I'm using them.
Did anyone go for this?

yes i bought one, took ages to deliver, and i can't get the talkytoaster maps to work :( what filename and folder did you use?
