Hi Folks,
I was sitting here planning a solo and thought, if I did hurt myself badly and had no phone coverage, what then?!?
So started to have a look into personal EPIRB's
Anyone on here have one or know anything about them?
Thanks,
Geo...
**EDIT
Just found this link

I have a spot tracker

its great, you can also track with it so every ten minutes it sends your location
like so

i tracked on way up but just checked in at bottom.
this model has 4 options a track option (point every 10/15 minutes(cant remember)) check-in with is manual and you can configure it to say anything (mine says in fine) a help which can be for anything (mine is i need help but its not life threatening, on the tgo I set this to ' im going to do something sorta dangerous if i dont check-in in 15 get help'
and then an sos which goes direct to their HQ and they get you help, all the others are user customisable and yo u can set up who gets them and how ie email sms
ive used it a fair bit tracking( about 8 full walking days i would think - 5 full days tgo and then misc. days out) and its still on its first set of batt's although it recommends the most expensive ones :(

Well thats that descision made :)
Was just looking at those on youtube.
I was thinking that available models might only offer the "Come get me yesterday!" option but the tracking bit is cool as and to be able to check in now and again and be seen on Google Earth will put the wifes mind at ease.
One of these is officially on the shopping list, thanks bud...

np, it does have an annual fee but you get a load of texts chucked in (emails are free) the tracking is an extra too but i think its $30 so almost nothing for what i see as insurance ie trip bump head out cold/ cant hit the help button. If you dont check in at least they know where you are.
