QUB MC have a long history of mountaineering expeditions and their latest was to Krygystan (hope thats spelt right) in 2012. Theres a public lecture about this at the medical biology building, QUB, 13 Feb.
It should definitely be worth a look.

Amazing footage and some of the hardships are intense at that height, one and a half hours to melt snow for a litre of water and an hour to put on their expedition boots. Well worth watching.
