Very hard to say not knowing your fitness levels, but as a guide i'd say it would be similar to the time from the car park to the ice house, without stops, and some people need lots of stops!
A steady walking pace should get you there in 30mins, an enjoyable dander with lots of stops to take in the glorious view and get some photos (an excuse you can use in front of your son to catch your breath ;) ) would take an hour.

Last time I did Donard it took 1 hr 45 mins from the carpark, with plenty of "photo breaks" ;D

Aww photo breaks... Saving the face of many a hillwalker since 1900 :) ..... I also like pointing on the horizon to a point of interest ;D

The last time i went up Donard, from the carpark, with two kids in tow it took 2 and a half hours, doesn't matter how fit you are, the small ones will always find a distraction, but it's worth it. :)
