Could anyone advise me how to find the big cave in the mournes that can be walked through ? I believe it is somewhere around slieve cove or lamagan. Any advice greatly appreciated as i'm hoping to take an english visitor there this Saturday

the only cave i'am aware of nearby is Cove cave, which is on Lower cove buttress 337/259,the best way to get to this is by parking at carricklittle carpark 345/219 the following the trek along the wood before turning right onto the trek for lower cove,on a clear day the cave can be seen.Cove cave can be quire a scrabble & dangerous at this time of the year, why not try percy cave 332/249 which is much safer & a better cave to look around

Ok many thanks do you mean dangerous as in slippy at this time of year ? We are both experienced hill walkers and have been accross most of the big ridges in scotland and snowdonia I really like the idea of going right the way through to the other side !

Here is a link to a thread with some pictures of the cave, if you make a good mental note of how it looks then you will probably be able to make it out from some distance away. The last picture correctly identifies the hill wherein the Percy Byshhe caves are situated.
