Saw this just put up on Kickstarter (http://kck.st/TVLRU1) - Chris Townsend and Terry Abraham (terrybnd on the blogosphere) are looking to make a 60min documentary film about Chris' favourite hikes in the Cairngorm winter. Will obviously cover the scenery/landscape, but also look at kit selection, how Chris chooses his camping spots, and try to sum up the connection and magic of spending time in these places.
For those new to Kickstarter, it is a way for people to get funding for projects directly from fans and supporters. They set the amount they will need and tell you all about their big idea. You pledge an amount, and after the time limit if the target is met all the pledges are taken and the project goes ahead. If the target isn't met no money is taken. Often there are rewards for different levels of pledge and backers get behind the scenes info about the project as it goes along. It has been very successful for a wide variety of projects - there's some really cool stuff!

What a great idea, i think i'll put a few pounds in, I like the idea of spending a night with them for £150 (but i won't be putting that much in!). So when will John be making his Mournes in Winter film ;D

Update: project matched its funding target and filming is underway
172 Backers
£5,290 pledged of £5,000 goal
I definitely see some potential for a NI-Wild Mourne project ;)

I'd happily make a NI Wild documentary, if I had that money to work with I could quit the weekend job and getting out on weekend camps wouldnt be a problem anymore.
