Title: Running again
Post by: mregan on September 19, 2012
Hitting avg 6:35min miles in training at the minute.  Hoping to keep at it and with adventure races through the winter be in some sort of shape to tackle another Marathon or possibly the causeway Ultra,  Done the Full and the half so this would top it off nicely.

That's good...way too fast for an ultra though unless you're Scott Jurek: I only do that speed downhill  ;)

I have no speed to me. Would like to break a 40min 10K or 1hr30 half next year as well as the long stuff.

Wont be attempting that pace for a marathon let alone an ultra.  Would like to beat my dads pb Marathon but cant see that happening.  He has a pb of 2:55

Wow - that's great!
May take a year or two to work towards, but I think around 3 is achievable if you geared your training for it.

Thats the problem I never stick to training plans.  Thats why I think its a no hope.  I have a few years left before I reach the age he done it at so maybe.. Doubt it tho

I did the Belfast Marathon in 1996 in 3.32, think at almost 40 years old im past marathons now. Was doing 10k's in 42ish a couple of years ago. Only get time to run now when the dark nights come in.

Aye i wasn't a bad wee runner in my yoof, but i sort of got put off after the half marathon which near killed me, then i turned 17 and started driving and hardly ran again until recently. My problem is that i know i'll never match those times so i can't really compete against myself, so i try not to bother with the competitive events  :)
