Hi - interesting to read some of the threads on here.
I do a bit of running, orienteering, walking, skiing, MTB. Have also done a bit of canoeing and sea-kayaking and even climbing a while ago.
I would be down the Mournes a fair bit from Easter onwards mainly in preparation for Seven Sevens and Mourne Mountain Marathon.
Looking forward to the MTB trails getting finished round Rostrevor to link up all the good open mountain trails.

welcome mickie, how did you get on in the seven sevens?

Welcome to the forum

Just under 8hrs for the Sevens - pretty pleased. First attempt was over 9hrs.
-
i'm aiming for 10 hrs next year, so well done on doing under 8 :)

I had timings for various bits calculated during training and reckoned 8 hrs was doable for me but not sure how I would go for the whole day. I was about 15 mins ahead of schedule after Don, Comm and Lamm but Binnian took most of it back. Then the sun came out! By the time I got to Meelbeg I was well stuffed and had to sit down and talk to myself. Got going again and had the Meels and Bearnagh done and at Hare's Gap and back ahead of schedule. Faded along Brandy Pad but was able to trot from col down Glen River to get in under 8.
Cant say I enjoyed it - felt nauseous all day (too much porridge for brekky?)but still had to force water and gels in anyway. It's a proper day out. No designs on doing it again next year but will probably change my mind
Did you do it yourself this year?
-
Fairplay to you. I tried it a couple of years ago and I only got as far as Bearnagh. Also, welcome to the forum...
