Rumblebum, Whorya and myself are in

I would be interested. I havent got out camping this year and it would be nice to do it before the colder nights come in.

Good stuff Fred. I think Rumblebum and Typo-on are trying to agree a time to set off at. Hoping to be sometime around 6:30-6:45pm to try to get up to catch the last of the sunset from the top.

Think I'm taking the boy camping Sat night somewhere with a bit less ascent. Shame, my summit camps have been few and far between lately.

Had a call from Lenny throwing his hat in the ring(most likely a little later than us)

There's an orienteering event in Donard Forest sat morning (from 11am), great fun if you haven't tried it before, hoping to have a go myself.
Autumn Trophy 1 - Donard Park Sat 8th Sept
Posted on: Monday 3rd September 2012 by Stephanie Pruzina
The next event is Autumn Trophy 1 at Donard Park in Newcastle on Saturday 8th September. Registration and parking will be in the main car park (J374306) and opens at 11am Starts run from 11.30am to 1pm. There are 4 courses Yellow, Orange, Long Orange and Green. Newcomers are welcome – If you’ve tried the WEE series then this is a good event to move up to. There is a good range of easier courses and there will be plenty of help and advice on hand.

Liam, myself and Rumblebum have things to get back for, so are probably talking about striking camp shortly after 9am in the morning. We are hoping to take the Shan Slieve>Slievenamaddy route down into Donard Forest, for a bit of variation.
Just in case you are thinking of coming up in the morning. Not sure if the other guys fancy that or not.

Sorry guys, up to my ears painting.. And moving boxes.. I swear this is going to be the last move..

Have a good one chaps. Looking forward to the pics and goss!

after a staggered start, and some delays as someone forgot something ::) ;D we all met up at the waterfall on the steps near the saddle
(http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd496/landyliam/2012/P1210858Small.jpg)
at the saddle and the craic was mighty, some discussion was had as to whether they should camp here as there was a good view and the summit was clouded out, but it was soon decided that a summit camp is a SUMMIT camp ;D

nice one guys, maybe bump into you's this morning. ;D

Ahh i do love a good old summit camp!
Thanks to all who were able to make it last night, I've been trying to camp on Commedagh for a while now and other things have just got in the way.
We really struck it lucky with the weather, a little less cloud cover would have been ideal but I guess you can't have it all.
Good to see Lenny out again and thanks to Fred for joining us.
Youl bring that tent the next time Liam won't ya! :)

I had a great night, it was good banter round the fire. Nice to catch up with the oul' hands and put some new faces to names.
I've seen loads of reports of overnighters up Commedagh on here, it was great to finally spend the night up there myself.
The mountains really put on show this morning, I could have been tempted to spend a lot longer just sitting watching the shifting clouds.
Hope you enjoyed spending a bit longer down there Fred.
Here's a few more photies.

It was a great night lads and Im pleased to have met more of the NI wild group. I hiked down to hares gap on saturday and came back via the brandy pad with a few diversions along the way. All in all a great weekend.

Nice one guys. We'll have to get a big summit camp organised before the weather gets too bad. Get the band back together as it were :)
-
I relly enjoyed myself on Friday. so glad I bought a pre cooked chinese and Wine in my Playtpus. So glad we never went without heat also (Everyone bought a firelog ::)).
Rumblebum was very generous passing food around and offering to share his meat with TypoOn & Fred (Who is a vegetarian ;D).
I also took some Bannock mix to have but never got round to making it. All my kit work well which included a virgin summit trip for my tent.
Great to meet up with some of the crew after such a long time. Deffo gonna get up again before winter comes ???

Loads of places, most garages that sell coal etc have them, b and m bargains have them, some supermarkets too, should be easier to get now the "summer" is over! ;D

Cheers spud, on my shoppin list ;D

Aye they are a handy job for the summit camps, hard to beat an oul chat round the fire!

Definitely be Commedagh for my first wild night in the Mournes....
Cheers Lads,
