Title: Donard (Newcastle) webcam
Post by: whoRya on September 04, 2012
I found this on Mountainviews (http://www.mountainviews.ie).

The Savoy Cafe on Newcastle's main street has a webcam set up.  It is pointed at Slieve Donard and updates every few seconds.  It may prove useful for satisfying your curiosity when you are just about to leave the house and are wondering what the weather is like up there.  It may be useful for seeing if there is snow in winter also  :)

Check it out by clicking the link below.  You have to wait about 30 seconds for it to load first time round.

I like this.  I think they deserve credit for it, I'll have to pop in for a bite to eat some time I'm down there.

We need to test it of course.  We'll have to get Liam to do a wee jig down the main street and make sure it is live.

Ok, the next Sunday morning that I'm intending to travel over from Dungannon, I will ring you around 6am to find out what it is looking like before I leave  ;)

Here is an idea. For those who are familiar with Geocaching, will recognise this. It is a webcam geocache. Unfortunately Geocache don't do these type of geocaches anymore. So here goes, you will need yourself at the location of the webcam and someone else at a pc/ipad/iphone. Confirm that they can see you on the screen. Then they should save the picture by right clicking their mouse and choosing to "Save Picture As". Confirm that the picture is saved properly before you leave the spot!. Then upload you picture here!. Let us see how many pics we get on this thread...

I think the brightness of the sun is just too much for the wee webcam to handle.
