Title: Micro-naving & using a bothy.....
Post by: Mourneman on August 26, 2012
First time i've been back in the Mourne's since our little drama last week, felt really good to be back where i belong.BigE planned the route today, for me that was a welcome change as i usually set all the route's.We parked in the carpark below Pigeon's buttress & followed a series of trig point's.

Joined today by BigE & Ed for some micro-naving on Pigeon mountain,BigE marked trig points along our trek they ranged from spur's,knoll's,trek crossings

We took it in turn to walk the group to each trig point, our first point was a trek junction

Nobody said we didn't ;-)

It was quite a feed. Probably more suitable for a camp, but it was very much enjoyed.

I'm still taking any chance I can get to make use of the new omnifuel

How is the omnifuel system, it's probably the only cooking system I've never tried.

The cleaner fuels seem to burn down very fast. The primus powergas for example seems to burn down through a bottle quite quickly - whereas the likes of paraffin seems to last longer - but then you have the problem of soot.

I'd recommend it, but if you plan on cooking in your tent porch, definitely bring a gas cylinder

Cheers Aragorn, am still a bit unsure about the system especially with the price tag.

I'd recommend ebay. It's a very solid stove and won't suffer any for having been used a little beforehand.
People commonly mis-spell listings and this is a source of bargains on ebay - as people won't find the mis-spelt listing.
Fatfingers.com is good for this - I got my "primus omnifue" for around 40 quid

Good to see you guys got up on the bike again.

You don't need to prove anything to anyone, you know how to prepare, you just have another experience to call upon.

Like the photos, especially with Lawrence. ;)

Don't want to harp on about it but well done. ;D

400g - Light enough that I'll never forego it on grounds of weight - unless I'm already carrying another form of shelter.
