What are you spending? Heres a £50 suggestion:
I've been abusing some trespass kit I bought in TK Max last season.
£35 Coat held up well until the second wash (Note to self, get 'er proofed) it's good qaulity though, happily reccomend to someone who is good at looking after their kit)
Trousers were skiers yokes which are fab, loads of breathing vents, internal gaiters the lot (no bad fer £17!) Their still waterproof, I've been out every weekend since new years day, I'm likely to travel downhill at speed on me butt / swing through trees etc, so this is still impressing me.
Now when I say waterproof, when the stuffs coming at you horizontally they will only hold up for so long ('bout 40 mins)
Anybody reccomend stuff that holds up when yer swingin through trees & it's still coming at you horizontal? (I'm guessing this will cost more than £50!)

Berghaus deluge overtrousers are very functional and good price (though heavy)
Not sure I'd call the featherlite's 'waterproof' Mike ;) but I do love the eVent stuff by Montane (and Rab).
Marmot's Strata membrane stuff is good too. Can often be a reasonable price and offers a different fit.

my bad..... water resistant trousers ... and water proof jacket (Waterproof - 2,000mm hydrostatic head and fully taped seams) ..... but it does mean you can carry extra warm socks with the weight you've saved!
Less than 250 grams for both combined... suits you sir!

I to would give a vote for the Berghaus Deluge trousers.
My jacket is a Berghaus Paclite jacket. Very light and well designed jacket

Thanks all...
My budget is good but not good enough for an Ogre jacket :'(
I'll take a note of all and take a trip to Cotworlds
Has anybody any thoughts on the Alpkit jackets?

I get 20% off in Cotswolds.. so give me a shout and I will give you my card

i was going to recommend the rab event trousers, but got drenched through in them tonight (may have left the top zips open a little) >:( should have used my berghaus deluge trousers :)

I am tempted to try them to see just how waterproof they are. Wonder if they are accepted for the MMM? It's coming up and I feel the excuse for some uber-light things hanging heavy in the air ;D

Their down jackets are well made and great value. Photographer Simon has one and he was hanging out in the Mournes during the big freeze the other year. (too heavy for me though - PHD all the way for down) 8)
Don't see any waterproofs in their range though.

The guys in work didn't recommend them either..

they had been ok up til now, any previous dampness was from within (sweat, i hope :o ) but i suppose the 3 rivers i crossed with water shin deep probably soaked my trousers lower down and the damp rose up, the important bits remained dry though ;)
