Hello everyone, just wondering is it possible to go wild camping just up from Tollymore forest park? By that I mean, around Slieve Donard just behind Tollymore forest itself, not actually on the mountain, if you can see what I mean?
To dumb it down, behind Tollymore forest, on the side facing Slieve Donard and that..
Sorry for being bad for words, I just didn't know how to explain it in chat, I'm judging from a map lol
Cheers :)

You could camp at the bottom of Luke Mountain which is close to the forest park or near Slievenabrock.

You could camp just over the wall at the back of Tollymore. Would be handy for firewood. Also you could try the Spinkwee River campsite which is near here, there are threads on here about it.

Reading Rory's post i have a suspicion he may actually mean Donard forest? If so then there's a nice spot on Shanslieve, about 100-200 meters past the forest. N 54deg 11.862 W 5deg 55.054 if you have a gps.

If it outside the wall at Tollymore then I think this is an area where walkers are requested to stay away from (private property). I'll see if I can find something on it. With so much 'permissable' land in the area it is probably best to comply.
I did find this in the DOE award information, which refers to access to Tollymore from the open mountain, it perhaps infers that you should avoid other areas that are adjacent to the wall.
- Back of Tollymore Forest park: Please use the new fenced gateway (279 222) to gain
access to the forest from the Southern side.

Spinkwee River would be easiest. You can walk to it through Tollymore. I know from being around there that there are some buildings / farmland out the back of Tollymore, wouldn't recommend camping adoun there just incase.
