Title: Carrick Little Car Parking
Post by: cphltd on July 14, 2012
We would like to inform all walkers using the Carrick Little Car Park that a second car park is now available up the lane (where the diggers are) It can accommodate up to 25 cars. The rates are £3 per day and £5 for overnight.  We have been talking about doing this for a while now but after reading a article in our local paper this week regarding cars being broken into in the Carrick Little Car Park we realised the need to hurry this along. Various walkers have been calling with us in the evenings asking to park overnight so the facility is now in place. Walkers can call at our house as either myself or my wife are nearly always at home, or call 07802 393567. Thank you.

Brilliant, what we have really been waiting on.  It really opens up the Annalong valley to overnighters :)

Check your Mourne Map. Carricklittle carpark is on the Head Rd (crossing with Oldtown Rd) near Silent Valley. If you go North up the track beside the carpark you will soon come to this place on the left.

Better photo on Bing Maps (http://binged.it/OuKwdQ)

Hi all. Yes my name is Richard Mooney. I am the third generation of my family to live here. Yes we have a dobermann. I have had a number of dobermanns over the last 20 years. She is called Rio and she is all noise - brave from a distance! Yes I have a 1968 swiss army truck, it was built to transport troops up the swiss alps, comes in handy here when there is heavy snow. It's last job was delivering a mini digger to Percy Byshe quarry for Mourne Heritage Trust when they were fixing the pathway. Glad to read all the encouraging comments on our new car park - any feedback is greatly welcomed. Thanks, Richard

Good luck with the venture, great to see the locals getting something back after being pestered by us tourists walking by for years  ;D  just thinking you could offere a yearly parking pass, meelmore lodge do one, i think its about £25. I hope to become your neighbour some day, when i win the lottery i'll be buying that wee cottage up the lane and turn it into a wee tea shop and campsite  :)
