I have a pair and at 800g they're not bad weight wise plus they seem quite hard wearing. My issue is they tend to feel quite warm so I unzip them a little but then the rain gets in, it's a bit of a catch 22. Only real advice I have on overtrousers is never get a pair that don't at least zip (or similar) around the ankles so you can get them over your boots. Having to take off your boots to get the troos on in the rain is a big pain.

Hard wearing, long 2-end zip, and storm flap with poppers - makes them very easy on and can vent while still having splash or drizzle protection.

I thought they worked well, but for all I use them needed lighter /smaller packing/ neater fit, so sold mine to Landy Liam when I got a work deal on some Montane DT.

Just don't go too big with overtrousers - they aren't that comfortable either way, but they can easily just be swishing and catching on everything. Think of how a jacket fits over your top layers - it's just something we're not used to on the legs.

The good thing about some of the heavier waterproof trousers is that you can go tramping through gorse and heather with little concern about damaging them, in fact add to that scrambling over rock.
