Title: Easy pitch family tent advice.
Post by: greensprite on March 31, 2012
Hello,
I'm planning on going camping more often with my three kids.  I really need a reliable sturdy tent that is v quick and easy to put up.  I've heard mixed reports about the vango tent can anyone advise me on one that they'd recommend please ;D?

most tents are easy once you've practised a few times, i've a wide range of different tents which have different ways of setting up and i wouldn't really say there's much difference apart from my vaude taurus which goes up as one i.e. you don't have to put the flysheet on after, that saves a lot of hassle on a windy day especially if youre alone.

but pop up tents are great if you can master getting them down again  ;D

Hi Greensprite.

Thats a simple question which raises lots of other questions lol.

You and three kids will need lots of room.

Questions...

Will you be wild camping or on sites.
Do you have transport.
Will size of tent effect you putting it up.
Are you starting from scratch, ie : have you got the acessories for inside the tent.

I would point you in the direction of a Northern Ireland Camping Forum if the Admin of NI Wild dont mind.

Thanks for the advice and the forum link looks interesting will check it out later.  I used to camp with a tunnel tent which was a bit of a hassle to pitch.  As for gear I have nothing since moving house.  I was hoping to do a bit of campsite/wild camping this summer.  My kids are still very young which is why a really easy pitch tent would suit us. I have a car with a generous boot.  I'm going to Cotswolds this week so will check out their tents but hope to pick up a second hand tent ideally.
