I bought this stove so that I could look forward to something other than Boil in the Bag breakfasts (as much as I enjoy them some times a man needs bacon) when hiking in the Mournes.

The newest addition to the Trangia range for your £25 you get the standard brass Trangia burner with snuff/simmer ring & lid, 1 x 0.9ltr pot, 1 x non stick pan which acts as a lid and a lightweight version of the pot handle gripper.
The construction of the whole set is as expected even the pot stand come wind shield seems pretty indestructible and all seem to be built to last and put up with a lot of abuse
Tested on a recent overnight in Donard wood I was suitably impressed with the stoves performance. Obviously boil times will be higher than most gas power stoves but it did boil approx 750 ml of water in about 8 mins for the first brew and a second for the boss of the morning and I can confirm that the non stick pan/lid works a treat and the stove will get hot enough to fry some bangers. All using about 100ml of fuel. So for a solo trip fuel consumption would be low and only adding about 100g to pack weight.

In conclusion a great bit of kit for the solo hiker and a welcome addition to the Trangia range and anyone pack. It could be let down by the wind shield in really bad weather but a little home made job will sort this out, But I will look forward to giving it a run for its money any weather.

I second that, I bought a trangia for my 18th birthday the mid range one and imo its the best stove ever. Practically indestructable as 666_pack said and i've been usingthe same burner for close on six years now and its still going strong. The trangia may be stilghtly heavier than other stoves but i'd def recomend one! the only down sight is my perculator doesn't fit on it so i usually take my pocket rocket on day trips etc.

I use the standard trangia and I love it. Fair enough it's not the fastest way to cook but I think that cooking outdoors is as much about the experience as the food so when I can't have an open fire the trangia is always my next fave!

I personally carry the Swedish army version and I also have the Trangia 25, If I had to choose between the trangia and a gas stove the Tranny would win every time, They are a bombproof piece of kit and well worth the iinvestment.

Wait till I swap the tranni and potstand for a coke can stove and 3 tent pegs.............
