Hi folks,
Thinking I need to get a tent sorted so when the urge takes me to go for an overnighter - I have what I need.
I was thinking something along these lines:
http://www.fieldandtrek.com/vango-dart-200-tent-783115
Popup seems to suggest small and hassle free to put up, both sounds good to me.
Any thoughts?

Hassle free to put up but a complete b@llcks to put away . I've wrestled with two I found abandoned at Annalong wood . I would go with a proper tent .

Single skin tent= wake up wet. Plus i've read some reviews saying people have had breathing problems in this tent when zipped up. There are cheap tents out there which aint hard to put up. Be sure to google any tent for reviews, see what other people thought of them.

What's your budget? I think that vango is single skin? Condensation could be a problem! Doesn't look like it will take much of a hammering? Ok for sunnier climes IMO, something with proper poles would be a better option, Im looking to upgrade my tent as the wee one I have now has no porch for cooking in!

Haha craigy great minds think alike! Lol

Budget is about £60 - could maybe push to 100 if it meant a seismic jump in the quality of the tent :)

Zephyros a good tent and that's a good price, saw this wee one looks dead on for the money http://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-x-lite-2-tent-783204

I like the look of this one. Might be a tad too heavy though.

popup tents are great, i love them :) but they will not fit into a rucksack!
if you are going to spend up to 100 have a look a getting a good quality 2nd hand tent, personally i'd get a wee cheap one and see how it goes, then when you've had a look at other tents at the campsites then you'll have a better idea of what you want to spend a lot of money on, remember that a in lot of expensive tents you are paying hundreds of pounds to save very little weight which is only really critical if competing in mountain marathons, and to save weight they are often small and uncomfortable, and you'll not want them too near the campfire in case it gets sparked :o

that looks like good value, 3.3kg isn't light but not overly heavy either, i do love the big porch, perfect for our crappy weather :)
you should buy it, then when you upgrade i'll buy off you for half the price ;D

I have a Vango Dart, slept in it twice, never again. It's single skinned so the condensation inside is crazy, plus it feels like being in a coffin for some reason.
If you're only sleeping in it then you don't need what the americans call a 'Vestibule' ie a front bit, but they are handy. If you're going to be carrying it any distance you need it to be below the 3.5kg mark, and believe me even that's heavy if you're carrying it up a hill. But a lightweight tent that these guys would use would bust your budget. So for that reason I'll point you towards Decathlons T2 hiking tent. Double skinned, small front area for boots, 3.4kg, two poles dead easy to put up and all for £30. Or maybe a Coleman Bedrock 2, only one pole so even easier to put up and about £35.
Or if you can bear the extra weight a Vango Beta 250 is by comparison a much roomier tent, still easy to put up. Or even bigger the Icarus 300 but that's very nearly standing height, but will be very comfy to spend a weekend or more in.

I have the Coleman Pictor X2, Its a great tent. Massive porch, you could sit two people in it.
I personnally dont think its too heavy, but then again it is heavier than others. Its a comfort v weight arguement yet again. For more room, you'll have to bump up the weight.
Super easy to pack away and erect.

I'm buying RedLeader's Zephyros II
Don't reckon I'll be getting upgradeitis with this one. (As the guy who has made do with a Berghaus RG1 coat for 6 years)
