I've been thinking about the range of interests our members have, camping, hiking, climbing, biking to name a few,& woul like to purpose the idea of making a YouTube video to promote ni-wild,my own video editing skills are basic as I've only just started learning final cut pro,but some of our members like mregan video's are first class.think between all our members we could come up with a very professional wee movie, anybody interested?

Top Idea :)
I suppose if anybody was interested in shooting a few minutes of footage and then emailed it through to you you could have a play about and see what you can come up with.
This could be a cool wee project

I think this is a superb idea and one I've often thought about myself.
You could take a range of sports/hobbies/outdoor activities and have 30 seconds for each or something.
Its something I've personally meant to do, record a few more of my outings on video as opposed to photo.
-
I've seen this done before for clubs and the results have been almost disasterous :o usually they are too long as they've tried to fit too much in. Maybe a few shorts videos, if you like one you'll probably watch the next one :) could also do a video of photos, i have plenty of those, but i almost always forget to take a wee video when i'm out :(

Thanks for the compliment Mourneman. ;D I would be happy to help if I get the time.
When I started editing HD video I used to try and fit everything in long clips etc. sometimes using two and three songs. Then looking at the results and video stats I found I was loosing the audience early if I didnt keep it short and to the point. If any of you have seen that video clip I posted yesterday from the Adventure Race you will see what I mean about trying to fit too much in. I know know if I was doing it again I could get a much better result. Trial and error I suppose but all a learning game to me even still.
It can be done and I have an idea of what I could do with a range of clips. For anyone wanting to film their choosen sports my advice is film it all dont try to capture a 30sec clip that has been staged. When editing we can cut the clip to suit but if you havent got that little bit more in a clip then sometimes its hard to fit it in. If possible try to film in HD or as high a res as possible.
I have plenty of short clips, but some nice scenary walkers climbers and outdoor Rock Climbers would be pretty cool.
I think the photo videos are old hat personally I turn them off the minute they start. I would rather flick through a series of photos with the ability to zoom or watch a slide show than see them in a video. Thats personal preference though I suppose.

Good Idea, I think if you did do this then it would need to be about 30-40 seconds long.
-
I think done right and the correct sound track choosen the the length of a song isn't pushing it. You would struggle to get anything into 30-40 seconds it would look too rushed.

Most TV adverts are 20-30 Seconds long and they get the message across!!!

I've very rarely watched a 30 second clip on YouTube etc. it seems to make you feel as if I waited for this to load for all of thirty seconds. I'd personally say 1~2 minutes at most.
But I do generally love the idea of an ni wild YouTube channel.

I know this is a professional job, but something in this style would be excellent.
I have to say I think this is the best NITB ad they have ever done.
&feature=colike

Everything about that ad is good. The fact that it's a local band singing and the film makers and editors are all from here.
The ad is so good and moves away from the usual cheesy or selling the troubles bollix that most people here want to move away from anyway.
-
;DAgreed ,that's a pretty cool ad,we could do an ni-wild one in the same style, including a combination of our interests, hiking, biking, surfing, camping, climbing, geocaching, photography, kayaking,a whole range of outdoor pursuits, would love to include some go-pro camera work, why don't we ask our members to try filming some of interest's to see what we could put together?

I'll bring a camera on the moyle way trip, maybe get some good footage of drunken falls round the campfire! ;) seriously tho, I'm sure could get something and email it to u!
