Tollymore National Outdoor Centre continues their series of Lectures and is delighted to present Tyrone Currie on Thursday 23rd February 2012, at 7.30pm.
In 2008 Tyrone Currie set sail from Strangford Lough in his home built catamaran Gillaroo. This Slide show encompassess his three year circumnavigation across Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans and through Panama and Suez.
Some highlights of the trip were visiting the island paradises of the Pacific , the wildlife of the Galapagos and Borneo and the hospitality of PNG and the Sudan. The problems included dealing with breakages and system failures onboard, near collisions through inexperienced crew and the risk of priacy off Somalia.
Raleigh International is a youth and sustainable development charity, providing expeditions and volunteer projects abroad.
A charge of £5 will be payable at the door. This includes £2 for tea/coffee and traybakes, with the remainder going to Raleigh International.
