Title: Help Needed - Walking Pole
Post by: LennyJ1 on January 18, 2012
I am in the market for a new walking pole.

I dont want to pay a forture but id does need to be lightweight.

Any ideas? What do you use? and how much does it weigh?

Hey Lenny

I use a pair (still getting familiar with them truth be told, but rickety knees had me fearful) - these ones:

The problem I have is they are only two sections so dont fit in the rucksack but they do attach to it relatively easily.  Pretty sound locking mechanism and good firm but comfy grip.  Not too heavy either (in my opinion - 580g) and at a good price (I actually only paid 25 quid; they were in a sale end of last year)

Happy hunting and am sure the collective may be able to recommend something a bit better!

I got one of those cheap ebay ones, broke on 2nd outing  >:(  then got a vango deluxe set from argos for £30, broke one of those too (after about 30 outings with lot of use) but they exchanged it for a new set without question  :) (new set now a bit iffy though)  not sure about weights, but the more you pay you also get a better handle, the cheap ones have very plasticky handles and probably more likely to give you blisters, especially with the distance you will be doing.

I have been using Cotswolds own brand featherlite for around 12 months and am very happy with them.I found it difficult to justify £27 for one pole but I definitely couldn't go with Leki and wanted something a little better than standard. At 158 grams they are excellent, only issue I've had is strap adjustment but I think that was my ignorance.Hard to shell out that price but as most of the time you get what you pay for.
