The CCAR Winter Race Series has been running since 2006, and has generated a huge influx of new competitors into the fantastic, exciting and globally growing sport of Adventure Racing.
For our 2011 Winter Series, we kicked off with "The Battle of Antrim", which was supported by Antrim Borough Council and took competitors on an exciting and challenging course through all the gems that Antrim Borough had to offer (and there were quite a few!)
Local Antrim lads and CCAR race veterans Tango & Cash designed the course along with CCAR, and it turned out to be the largest event which CCAR have run to date...
Skirmish on the Bann is now in the final planning stages and will take place on 28th January 2012.
This event is geared to everyone, from complete novice (seriously) to experienced racer, and we expect it will last 4-6 hours, depending on how you get on.
If this is all new to you and you think you can't handle it, think again; you likely CAN handle it if you're reasonably fit and healthy - it's just a big old treasure hunt with a few twists, so you don't need to be mighty fit to enjoy the sense of achievement of finishing (but it might help a bit!). All you need in terms of kit is a mountain-bike (any type) and a helmet plus a few other small items - all the kayaking stuff is provided.
Each team will have two people, and there are three categories: Male, Female and Mixed

Hello Mr. Regan, how are you keeping?
Moved the topic into 'Outdoor News & Events', feel free to add more events as I know a few people from here have entered them in the past.
I'd definitely recommend the CCAR events to anyone who is interested in trying out adventure racing. Very helpful and friendly organisers, and always good craic!

Edd 666 and i have done a few races with ccar, they are well organised and run, mostly involve mountain bike orienteering, kayak, and mystery events that have included paintball, downing a pickled egg and half pint of guinness, three legged race etc, definately good crack and i recommend entering one, the last race had 96 teams entered.

Hi Everyone just a wee reminder from us at CCAR, entries for the Craigavon round 'The Lakeside Fury' close on Monday 20th February 2012 at 23:59.
This round has an urban feel to it with loads of fun tasks threw in.....! perfect for a first time race..!
No need to have your own kayak or even have sat in a kayak before the boats we have are so easy to paddle..!
Only thing's you need is a mountain bike or similar (not a road bike) and helmet plus basic kit list...!
Oh and a good sense of humour and you will have fun..!
