Title: Bluegrass Banjo
Post by: dean1970 on January 03, 2012
Among all the presents from christmas, walking gear etc, I was bought a really nice bluegrass banjo (5 string)

I do not play any instruments at all, but always wanted to learn something and decided that I like the sound of the bluegrass banjo.

It's a difficult instrument to play, 2 finger and thumb picking. I am of course just learning at the moment.

I thought I would ask if there is anyone on here that knows of someone that teaches the banjo?

I am enjoying just messing with the basics, but suspect I really should learn the basics properly before I pick up bad habits.

My son got one for Christmas too, although he's already a dab hand on the guitar and has started learning that deliverance song, we even have a rocking chair in the house ;D
